Hakuba & Tokyo trip guide

How our Japan group ski holidays work.

Six ski days in Hakuba Valley, followed by four nights in Tokyo. Here is what you arrange, what we arrange, and how much of the holiday you share with the group.

A shared journey, with time to yourself

Our group holidays share an arrival plan, hotels and transfers between the airport, Hakuba and Tokyo. An English-speaking Japanese host helps with the practical arrangements and checks in with the group each morning and evening.

You do not have to ski together, follow the same runs or spend every evening with the group. Ski at your own pace and choose how you use your time in Tokyo. Tell us if you are travelling with friends of different abilities, joining alone or bringing children, so we can discuss the arrangements that suit you.

This is a 12-day holiday in Japan, with seven nights in Hakuba and four nights in Tokyo. It is not a ski day trip from Tokyo. The Tokyo part is time to explore independently.

Six days skiing or snowboarding in Hakuba

Your package includes a six-day Hakuba Valley lift pass covering ten resorts and ski or snowboard rental. You choose where and how to ski according to your ability, the weather and resort opening conditions. Lift access does not include an on-slope guide.

Beginners can join, but lessons are an additional cost. Tell us your experience before you book so we can help you explore suitable ski schools and arrange lessons in advance. Experienced skiers and snowboarders can make their own plans for the mountain; the host is there for logistical support, not instruction.

If you bring your own equipment, ask for an adjusted quote and check your airline’s equipment baggage allowance. Arrange travel insurance covering the activities you intend to do; insurance is not part of the package.

Joining solo, as a couple, or with friends and family

You can join a scheduled departure on your own and book your own room. The solo price is higher because the room cost is not shared. Room sharing with another solo traveller is not guaranteed; discuss your preferences with us before booking.

Couples and friends can choose two-person, three-person or four-person arrangements. In a Deluxe room shared by three, the third guest uses a sofa bed. Family suites accommodate up to four guests; larger parties need more than one room. We confirm room categories and bedding at both hotels in your quote.

Children’s prices depend on age, room occupancy and the ski services required. Send us those details for a personalised quote rather than multiplying an adult headline price.

Getting from Tokyo to Hakuba, then back to the city

Your trip starts with an airport welcome in Tokyo and a coordinated group transfer to Hakuba. After seven nights in the mountains, you transfer to Tokyo for four nights at Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa. Return airport arrangements are coordinated around your confirmed flights.

International flights are not included. Our advertised UK travel windows include the overnight outbound flight day: your 12 days in Japan begin the following day. The reference flights are BA4608 from London Heathrow to Tokyo Haneda, operated by Japan Airlines, and BA8 back to Heathrow.

Flight schedules can change. Confirm the arrival time, meeting point and transfer arrangements with us before you buy tickets. If you want to fly from another airport or use a different service, contact us first so we can check how it fits with the group.
